Two weeks ago I noticed Risky’s mattress was outside drying in the sun. When I asked the ladies about it they told me his mattress and other mattresses as well, had become heavy and smelly. I checked and discovered they were right. Pressing them there was hardly any movement under my fingers, just lying there, like a live-less heavy thing, tired of being a mattress. It was then that I decided all the children should have new ones, and furthermore, new beds. So became my new little project.
First I announced it on our Facebook page, and very quickly positive reactions came in. I did some research on internet, trying to find out the prices. I figured it would be nice to have two bunk-beds, and two normal beds, as I needed six sleeping places in total.
The next step was to involve the kids. I showed pictures, and asked if they liked it. Benny said he wanted to be on top, but the ibu’s objected, because Benny tends to sleepwalk. So does Roby so they should definitely be under. Risky liked to sleep on the top, and so did Jimmy.
With that in mind I went to a big shop where you can buy almost anything and there I found them, the perfect solution for my beds- project: A cool bunk-bed with a pull-out. Perfect! That would take care of Martin and Harry at the same time! Back home I posted the pictures of the beds and the price tag, and it was amazing how quickly I got the needed amount together. Fantastic!
The next day I went back and ordered the beds and mattresses. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give the room a coat of new paint, and asked again for help. An hour later my friend offered to help.
Then the big day had arrived! I woke up a bit nervous, because it is one thing to plan certain activities in a certain order, to let it happen is another. The old beds had to be taken apart, and picked up. Done! Paint the walls of the empty bedroom in blue and green, the result was fantastic!
Finally the beds, now that was a long wait for the boys, and so often ten nosy pairs of eyes peeked around the door, to see what their bed would look like! It was already past their bedtime, when the ibu’s put on the new mattresses, and bed sheets. The kids were so excited, climbing up, and jumping down on the pull out. This turned out to be a pull in as well, making Harry almost disappear under Roby’s bed. The pull out beds went everywhere, which added to the excitement. But then mr. Sandman took over, and one by one the eyes became heavy, the new beds were embracing them, alluring our boys to dreamland! Goodnight, and don’t let the bedbugs bite!
