Aarrrrhggg, runny nose, lot of coughing, no appetite, and so tired! Or to put it in other words, flu!
Been sick for weeks now, and it doesn’t go away. It does get less, but very slowly, so high time I change doctors. Ah, there is a good doctor.
Emily tells me to lie down on my bed, and opens her doctor’s set. Benny and Jimmy appear at my bedside, and start squeezing my throat. Emily takes out the stethoscope, and puts it on my chest with great force. Oh no, I need an operation, there is the knife already. Four injections and some medicine later, I am my old self again, and all I have to do now is rest.
The children in our home are allowed to play as often as they can. Although we have a lot of toys, I never turn down any offer of new toys, because playing is fun, and it is learning at the same time. Through play the kids can practice skills they already master, and acquire new ones. It saddens me when I hear about orphanages where playtime is restricted to only a few hours per day, or places that don’t have enough toys. This is something everyone is willing to give to children, so just use the social media to put out an appeal for more toys in your orphanage, and for sure you will get it. The children can play alone, together, and together with you. Just think of what you can learn about your child, its motor development, fantasy, reasoning skills, is your child able to take turns, can he take it if he loses a game? It is also a fantastic way to connect with your kid, with the right amount of psychological insight you can discover signs of what is on your child’s mind. Things your child doesn’t want to talk about can come to the surface during role play or playing house.
So needless to emphasize I am greatly in favour of plenty of opportunities to play. Whenever you visit an orphanage/ children’s home, make sure to bring some toys.
So much for now, time to take a rest again remember, doctor’s orders!
